OIC convenes an Executive Committee meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers to discuss the current situation in Syria

The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convenes an urgent meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on Wednesday, 30 November 2011, to discuss the current situation in Syria and putting an end to violence against civilians. The OIC General Secretariat had in the past week reiterated its call upon the Syrian authorities to embrace peaceful means, implement its reform promises, and put an end to violence against civilians in a bid to spare the country the risk of having the crisis internationalized with all the grave ramifications that might arise for peace and security in Syria and the region. The General Secretariat also expressed its readiness to support all efforts seeking to work out a peaceful solution to ensure the stability of Syria as well as to respond to the demands of the Syrian people.
